Podium Pavement Works · North Houston TX
High-visibility painting for speed bumps and speed humps in commercial parking lots across North Houston. Yellow side surfaces, white or yellow tops, and optional chevron approach markings. Paint only, we do not install speed bumps.
Speed bumps are the raised pavement features that slow vehicles in parking lots and private drives. They work through height, but drivers need to see them before they hit them. An unpainted or faded speed bump at night is a visibility problem and a liability risk. High-visibility paint on the sloped faces (typically yellow, or alternating yellow and black) and a white or yellow top surface makes the bump clearly visible well before a driver reaches it.
We paint speed bumps and speed humps. We do not install them, remove them, or do any asphalt work. If you need a speed bump physically placed, that is a paving contractor’s job. Once it is in place and you need it painted or repainted, that is ours. Speed bump painting is a common add-on to a full lot restripe and can be done in the same visit.
We count speed bumps and speed humps, note current paint condition and surface material, and confirm the color pattern. You get a free written quote before we leave.
We confirm the paint pattern: solid yellow or white on the faces, or alternating yellow/black diagonal stripes, with white or yellow on the top surface. We discuss approach chevrons if you want them.
We apply commercial-grade latex to the sloped faces, top surface, and any approach markings. Most speed bump jobs for a typical lot are complete in a single morning visit. Paint is dry in 30 to 45 minutes.
We photograph all finished speed bumps and walk through the job with you before leaving.
We’ll walk your lot and give you a free written estimate, no fee, no obligation. If it’s worth your time to call, it’s worth our time to come out.
We carry general liability insurance and run early-morning, after-hours, and weekend jobs to keep your lot open during business hours.
Fire lanes, ADA accessible stalls, ISA stencils, and access-aisle hash-lines done to local fire-code and Texas Accessibility Standards, not generic guesses.
Our quotes break out code-required work from cosmetic work in writing, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before we start.
For speed bumps and speed humps on private commercial lots, most North Houston jurisdictions do not have a specific ordinance prescribing exact paint patterns. However, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) pavement marking standards provide the accepted reference for high-visibility markings on speed control features. Standard commercial practice, which we follow, is high-visibility yellow on the face surfaces with a white or yellow top, which meets the visibility intent of any jurisdiction that references MUTCD for pavement marking color standards. Some municipalities have specific requirements for speed bumps on private property; we confirm applicable local standards before painting on any job where a jurisdiction requirement is a concern.
We cover seven Texas counties: Montgomery, Harris, Fort Bend, Walker, Waller, Liberty, and Brazos. Jobs run throughout the region, from The Woodlands south to Houston, from Katy east to Kingwood and Cleveland.
Price depends on your lot’s specific conditions. Below are the main factors that affect the quote. We don’t publish flat rates because every job is different, a free written estimate is the only way to get an accurate number.
No. We paint speed bumps that are already in place. Installation, removal, and any asphalt or concrete work are outside our scope. If you need a speed bump physically placed or removed, that is a paving contractor’s job. Once it is in place and you need it painted, that is ours.
We typically apply solid high-visibility yellow on the face surfaces (the sloped sides) and white or yellow on the top. For higher-visibility applications, near pedestrian crossings, at night-use-only lots, or where the property owner wants maximum contrast, we apply alternating yellow and black diagonal stripes on the faces. Approach chevrons on the pavement ahead of the bump are also available on request.
Commercial latex on concrete and asphalt speed bumps typically lasts 2 to 4 years in Texas conditions. The face surfaces wear faster than the tops because of direct tire contact on approach. Units in lots with high daily traffic wear out faster. We can assess the current condition during the site visit.
Cost depends on the unit count, current paint condition, and the paint pattern. It is typically one of the smaller line items in a full lot maintenance job. We provide free written estimates that itemize every unit and pattern choice.
We include speed bump painting in the same visit as a full lot restripe, so there is no second mobilization cost. We provide a written quote before work starts, photograph all units after painting, and bring all materials on-site so there are no return trips.
High-visibility yellow is the standard for speed bump face surfaces. Yellow provides strong contrast against dark asphalt and is the color drivers associate with caution. White is used on the top surface in some applications. Alternating yellow and black stripes on the faces provide maximum visibility but are more time-intensive to apply, we quote based on the specific pattern you want.
