The Service

What Is Basketball Court Line Painting?

We measure and paint all court lines directly on your outdoor asphalt or concrete surface using commercial-grade traffic latex. A standard full-court set includes boundary lines (sidelines and end lines), center line, center circle, free throw lane, free throw circle, and three-point arc. We can paint a full regulation layout or a custom half-court depending on your available space and the standard you want to match.

We use the same durable latex paint we apply to parking lots and fire lane markings. It bonds well to asphalt and concrete, holds up to Texas heat and UV exposure, and can be refreshed when lines fade. We do not use thermoplastic or other applied materials.

Who Needs This Service

  • Apartment Complexes and HOAs are the most common call. Community courts take a beating, and lines fade fast in Texas heat. We do both new layouts and repaints.
  • Schools with outdoor PE areas usually need a half-court or standard playground layout. Most of these are new layouts on recently paved surfaces.
  • Municipal Parks call when they’re repaving or putting in a new court. We confirm the layout standard with you before staking anything.
  • Churches and Community Centers typically want a single full-court or half-court for youth programs. Weekend and after-hours scheduling works fine.
  • Commercial Properties with employee recreation areas sometimes have slabs that never got proper line markings. We can stake a new layout or refresh what’s already there.
How It Works

Our Process

  1. 01

    Site Walk & Measurement

We walk the court surface, confirm available dimensions, and note any surface issues. You get a written quote itemized by layout type before we start.

  2. 02

    Layout Stakeout

Before any paint goes down, we chalk-mark all court reference points: basket centers, court corners, key corners, and arc centers. This step catches dimensional errors before they become permanent.

  3. 03

    Line Painting

We paint all lines to your chosen layout standard using commercial-grade latex. Lines are sized, positioned, and applied clean. Most courts are complete in a single visit.

  4. 04

    Walk-Through & Photos

We photograph the completed court and walk through the work with you before leaving. You get a photo record of the finished markings.

Layout Standards

Court Dimension Standards

Outdoor basketball courts follow a few common dimension standards. The layout we paint depends on the standard you choose and your available surface dimensions. Most apartment complex and HOA courts use recreational or high school dimensions. We confirm which standard you want before staking the layout.

Common Court Standards

  • NFHS (High School) Full Court: 84 x 50 feet, 12-foot lane width, 19-foot 9-inch three-point arc
  • NCAA Full Court: 94 x 50 feet, 12-foot lane width, 20-foot 9-inch three-point arc
  • NBA Full Court: 94 x 50 feet, 16-foot lane width, 23-foot 9-inch arc (22-foot corners)
  • Recreational / HOA Half-Court: typically 42 x 50 feet or scaled to fit the available slab

If your slab is smaller than a standard full-court layout, we’ll work with you on a scaled or half-court layout that fits the space. We note the chosen standard in the written quote before any work starts.

Cost Factors

What Does This Service Cost?

Pricing comes down to four things: full court vs half court, which layout standard you want, surface condition, and whether we’re staking a new layout or refreshing lines that are already there. We’ll cover all of it in a free written estimate before anything starts.

  • Full Court vs Half CourtHalf-court jobs are shorter on linear footage and stakeout time. Most apartment and HOA courts we work on are half-courts.
  • Court StandardNFHS, NCAA, NBA, and recreational layouts have different key widths and arc distances. Tell us which standard you need and we’ll stake accordingly.
  • Surface ConditionRough or porous asphalt sometimes needs a heavier paint pass to get clean line edges. If we see it on the site walk, it goes in the quote.
  • New Layout vs RepaintRefreshing faded lines on an existing court is faster than staking a full layout from scratch. If your old reference lines are still traceable, we’ll work from them.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What lines do you paint on an outdoor basketball court?+

We paint the full line set: boundary lines (sidelines and end lines), center line, center circle, free throw lane, free throw circle, and three-point arc. We can also add a half-court layout or custom modifications based on your available space.

What size courts do you paint?+

We work with full-court and half-court layouts. Most apartment complex and HOA courts run recreational or high school dimensions (84 x 50 feet full, or roughly 42 x 50 half). We confirm the standard before staking so the layout matches your surface and your needs.

How long do basketball court lines last outdoors in Texas?+

Commercial latex on asphalt typically holds 2 to 4 years before lines need refreshing. UV exposure and surface porosity affect longevity. High-traffic areas fade faster than boundary lines. Texas summers are harder on paint than in northern climates.

Can you repaint faded lines without restaking the whole court?+

Yes. If the court boundary or key lines are still visible enough to use as reference, we can repaint from the existing layout without re-staking the full court. We’ll assess this during the site walk and note it in the quote.

Do you paint on concrete courts as well as asphalt?+

Yes. Commercial-grade traffic latex bonds to both asphalt and concrete. Smooth concrete holds paint cleanly. Rough or porous surfaces may need a heavier application pass, which we include in the quote if needed.

Why hire Podium for basketball court line painting?+

We stake all reference points before any paint goes down, photograph the finished work, and give you a written quote itemized by layout type before we start. Court line painting is included in the same visit as parking lot work when scopes overlap.
